Couples in Recovery Workshops

Have Each Other’s Backs Again! Couples in Recovery Workshop
What: Interactive workshop supporting couples in recovery to heal, reconnect, rebuild trust, and strengthen their relationship by learning and practicing research-based healthy relationship skills.
Whether your relationship is in crisis or robust, couples can always hone their relationship skills and benefit from reflecting with other like-minded couples about what it means to be a couple in recovery, and decide as a couple, your unique vision for your relationship.
When: Sunday, April 14, 2019; 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Where: Denver Family Therapy Center, 4891 Independence St., Ste 165, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
Why: Divorce rates are 4-7 times higher for couples with addiction issues. Therefore, Dr. Robert Navarra (with the Gottman Institute) recommends that earlier couples work is necessary in contrast to the old model, which was “stabilize the recovery so couples conflict doesn’t upset the recovery”. Current research shows instead that “Relationship satisfaction contributes to recovery!”
Cost: $250 per couple for an 8-hour workshop, lunch, and materials.

Rebuilding Trust Workshop
What: Interactive presentation to inform and support Aftercare and Alumni Clients to develop evidenced-based knowledge and skills in rebuilding trust in all of their relationships (including trusting oneself). This information can apply to past (ex. family of origin) and present relationships, and empower individuals to be more conscious in cultivating trusting relationships in the future.
When: Monday-Friday 90 minutes
Where: Addiction Treatment Centers
Why: “Trust issues” are one of the greatest problems identified by couples and families affected by addiction. People in early recovery often ask, “When will my family (friends, boss, etc.) trust me again?!” This workshop was developed to provide healing, guidance and empowerment to all individuals open and willing to learn how trust is formed, what causes betrayal, and how to rebuild the trust they wish to restore in their relationships.
